The best bit? It’s not a dream. Money.co.uk have just finished creating one of the most unique places to work in the UK – in their very own Castle.

Not only that, it has three floors of chillout spaces, working areas and meeting rooms. All filled with all the latest gadgets and tech. With their team of over 50 asked to describe their ideal headquarters, they now have access to a private gym and a Star Wars-themed cinema room.

Thinking BIG.

Since leaving his day job at Oracle, Chris Morling has never looked back. It’s not been easy by any stretch of the imagination. But throughout, he’s always had his eyes firmly on the future. His journey has lead him from developing AskBaby.com, one of the most popular baby portals of its time, to Money.co.uk. A rapidly growing price comparison website for all your financial needs.

It was the first thing that popped into my head when I stood outside. “If your dreams don’t make you scream out with excitement, they’re not thinking big enough!“


It’s not everyday you get to meet a serial-entrepreneur like Chris. The environment he has built around him somewhat reflects his own personality. One of friendliness, support, community, fun and happiness.

Speaking with him it was obvious that despite running several successful businesses Chris remains incredibly humble and approachable. An important aspect which makes his employees say,  Money.co.uk is one of the best places to work in the world.

57% of your waking time is spent at work

Traditional business owners still struggle with the fact that 57% of your waking time, or one-third of your entire life, is spent at work. It’s great to see raising tech companies challenging the norm of uninspiring workplaces. A few months ago we published an article called ‘Cultures That Inspire Play Come First‘. It delved into the important research behind offices not only being a place to work but to have fun.

Play, purpose, potential, emotional pressure, economic pressure, and inertia are key factors that affect workplace and team happiness.

If you’re eagle eyed you will realise, three are positive and the other three are negative. Positive reasoning is the cause of high performance. While it is widely accepted having too much negative reasoning is unhealthy for any team . No one wants staff thinking more about the disappointment of work than getting amazing results.

Why do they do it?

Fitting in is a failure and it is said that not standing out is the same as being invisible. Great discoveries often evolve, mature and connect with other ideas over time. We see this time and time again as startups lose motivation when they face their first hurdle. The trick? Don’t kill your gut feeling, grow them.

We’ve been conditioned to think small, simplify and to expect less from life. Not here! It was clear in each room that every bit of the interior designed to encourage imagination. It felt like an explosion of creativity as soon as you walked in the door. And you’ll be surprised at what you can do with a thought process like that.

Does it really work?

We took a well-scripted tour around the castle but sadly didn’t have the time to try out this eye-catching habitat in action. We can only imagine what it really feels like to work in an office with such bright colours and creative rooms. We have yet to meet happier staff but is it for everyone?

Our thoughts? The world has changed. We no longer want to get to work only to think about when we can leave. Normal office spaces are quickly becoming homely creative hang-outs. But what happens when the pressure heats up? We are looking to find out more for you soon.

Putting it into action

Fear of failure is universal, experiencing it is inevitable, but it’s not fatal.

Thinking BIG grows and develops over time but remember, no matter the difficulty, you can adapt  — to anything. Stretching your imagination and expanding your personal potential may take time but it’s worth every day.
